The treasured comedy troupe and incredible talent behind Bro’Town and Sione’s Wedding, The Naked Samoans, are joining forces with Auckland Arts Festival and the legendary creators of The White Guitar, The Conch, to present The Naked Samoans Do Magic, a hilarious and spell-binding new show playing at The Civic 22-25 March.

After the death of a mysterious fan, the guys discover they are the inheritors of the keys to a rambling dilapidated villa in Ponsonby. With Auckland house prices skyrocketing and money to be made, the boys gather to sell it off and get on with their lives. But the house and who has left it to them are not what they seem

Imbued with the spirit of magic, the house and what it contains will lead the boys to face their biggest challenge yet. Will they pull a rabbit out of the hat, or just think "Nah it’s too much trouble."?

The Naked Samoans have been called “a national treasure.” Since their first stage show in 1998, The Naked Samoans have taken their brand of anarchic social satire and comedy into the hearts and living rooms of kiwis across the country. Teaming up with The Conch’s Nina Nawalowalo and Tom McCrory, The Naked Samoans will finally get to unleash on the boards again. And they’re only getting older, so it could be their last ever show.

Individually, the performers’ screen footprint is vast and includes 800 Words, Outrageous Fortune, Harry and Wentworth among many others. Through it all, though, The Naked Samoans’ first love has been performing together on stage.

Internationally acclaimed theatre directors and co-founders of Wellington based Theatre Company, The Conch, Nina Nawalowalo and Tom McCrory have created a platform for the telling of Pacific stories across the globe.

From ground-breaking Vula which toured for seven years, including a three-week season at the Sydney Opera House and a sold out season at London’s Barbican Centre, to works Masi and Marama, The Conch are renowned for their powerful visual and magical storytelling. Their most recent show, The White Guitar, is the uplifting story of The Luafutu Family, featuring renowned hip hop artist Scribe. The sold-out show was lauded by critics and described as “a seminal moment in New Zealand theatre history.”

The Naked Samoans Do Magic will play 22 to 25 March at The Civic.
