Great classic action headed for Teretonga Park

Millions of dollars of classic racing cars, a two-time World Touring Car Champion, one of the most iconic New Zealand big banger race cars from the 1970’s and entrants from Australia, Andorra, Canada and from all over New Zealand will gather at Teretonga Park near Invercargill this weekend when the Evolution Motorsport Classic SpeedFest takes place at the circuit.
The appearance of two-time World Touring Car Champion Paul Radisich of New Zealand on the Saturday of the event will be one of the highlights. Radisich is in the city to speak at a function on Friday night and Scott O’Donnell has offered Radisich the chance to reunite with his 1994 Ford Mondeo Super Tourer in Saturday’s Historic Touring Car Class races.
The other star of the show will be the appearance of PDL Mustang II, one of the most successful cars of the big banger saloon era of the mid 1970’s.
International entries come in the form of Jack Ondrack of Canada (Pontiac Fiero and a TVR Tuscan), Australian’s Jim Wallace (BMW M5) and Lyndon Arnel (Lola) plus Andorra’s Chris Chiles (BMW M3).
Classes include both Large and Small Classic Saloons, Formula Libre, Formula Ford, Historic Touring Cars, Sports Cars, Vintage Race Cars, Pre 65 Saloons and Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloons.
The action starts at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets are available from E Hayes and Auto Centre in Invercargill plus Harrison Supplies Ltd, Gore where discounted weekend passes cost just $25. A weekend pass purchased at the gate costs $35 and day only passes (purchased at gate) are $25 each day. Children 14 & under free if accompanied by an adult.
