The day Auckland runs - register by Friday and save money
Ports of Auckland Round the Bays, New Zealand’s largest fun run and walk, is filling up as we get closer to race day on Sunday 4 March 2018.
Stuff Event Operations Manager David Blackwell says ticket sales and corporate sites in particular are charging ahead.
“The corporate hospitality sites at Madills Farm have sold out completely and there are only a few left at Glover Park. On top of that, we’re looking forward to hosting the largest teams Round the Bays has ever seen, with some groups exceeding 1,500 people.”
Mr Blackwell is encouraging people to sign up this week and join the thousands who have already registered while standard pricing is still available.
Participants only have until midnight Friday 16 February to take advantage of standard pricing, after which entry fees for adults and children will increase by $5. Family passes, offering a discount of 25%, will still be available.
The iconic event always draws a large number of entrants as a fun day out for everyone in Auckland.
Enthusiasts are gearing up to participate in the iconic event, among them are fitness fanatics aiming to achieve personal goals, those entering in conjunction with fundraising initiatives for charities, as well as participants banding together in family and corporate teams for a fun group activity.
The 2018 course is set to be more entertaining than ever. Stations, from live bands to stilt walkers, are set up every 600m along the 8.4km course which outlines Auckland’s scenic coast from the city centre to St. Heliers Bay.
“Aucklanders love the run as it’s a fantastic way for locals and visitors to come together and celebrate the beauty of Auckland. Adding to this is the feel-good factor of doing something fun and healthy for a good cause.”
The event is donating $50,000 to charities, Spirit of Adventure, Lifeline and Riding for the Disabled, with entrants choosing which charity they would like to support when they register.
This year, Ports of Auckland has also donated free school packages to low-decile schools.
“So far, we have had ten schools sign up, which is a fantastic for the new initiative.”
