Aces unchanged for Canterbury clash

The Auckland Aces have named an unchanged squad for their next Ford Trophy match against Canterbury at Hagley Oval tomorrow.

The Aces are coming off back-to-back wins against Northern Districts and Wellington and now sit comfortably in second spot on the Ford Trophy ladder behind Central Districts.

Young quick Jamie Brown was a star performer in Auckland’s last outing at the Basin Reserve taking 4-38 from his ten overs.

“It was nice to get a couple down in Wellington but those blokes who ran into the wind at the Basin are the real heroes,” says Brown.

“To be honest having guys like Tarun, Lockie and Mitch around the group is really helpful for a young bowler like me. They take heaps of pressure off so I can just go out there and focus on my job.”

With an unchanged squad for the match against Canterbury, the Aces are hoping they can continue winning and ensure a top two semi-final spot.

“We are tracking well but we are all too aware that any team can beat anyone on their day. There are no easy games in this Ford Trophy so we will need to be at our best if we are to take Canterbury,” says Aces Skipper Craig Cachopa.

The Aces face Canterbury tomorrow before returning home to play the Otago Volts at home on Sunday in the final round.
