Venue change for Auckland Live Summer in the Square’s ‘Classical weekend’
Due to adverse weather conditions Auckland Live Summer in the Square’s Classical Weekend event will now take place inside the Auckland Town Hall.
Event goers are now invited to head indoors to enjoy performances by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Young
Achievers, the Royal New Zealand Navy Band with New Zealand Opera and so much more. Of course, no Auckland Live
Classical Weekend would be complete without offering a sneak peek inside the Auckland Town Hall Organ.
The event kicks off on Friday at 12.30 pm with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Young Achievers and culminates in a
free concert by the Royal New Zealand Navy Band and the New Zealand Opera on Saturday and Sunday from mid-afternoon into
the evening. Audiences can also experience the Auckland Town Hall Organ like never before through a live-stream tour of the treasured instrument as an expert guide walks through the organ and
points out its unique and impressive features. Sessions on Saturday start from 2pm and 4pm and on Sunday from 11 am and
1 pm.
Alongside all of this Grand Opening will be playing at The Civic. Featuring more than 50 performers, audiences will experience parts of The Civic not
normally open to the public as they journey through the iconic venue on a wild ride filled with secrets from theatres
day past!
