Rhythm & Alps 2017 sold out

Tickets to the South Island’s biggest annual music festival and New Year’s party – Rhythm & Alps 2017 (R&A) – are officially sold out.

Ten thousand revellers – including 5,500 campers and 4,500 day pass holders – are converging in Wanaka’s Cardrona Valley from December 29-January 1 to witness a lineup of international and New Zealand acts, from music superstars TASH SULTANA, LITTLE DRAGON and CIGARETTES AFTER SEX to Kiwi summer essentials FAT FREDDY’S DROP and LORD ECHO.

R&A festival director Alex Turnbull says ticket sales for the 2017 event have exceeded expectations, with the majority of tickets selling out faster than any other event in the festival’s seven-year history. The final few have sold out today.

“Our lineup this year is absolutely world-class and we were always expecting to sell out,” he says. “Tash Sultana has taken the world by storm and we’re excited to bring her to Wanaka for the first time. We’ve also got a huge range of other acts coming here from all over the globe, as well as the national favourites. It’s going to be an epic few days.”

The festival’s 5,500 campers have access to a range of facilities, from a camp bar and village serving ice-cold beer, drinks and a variety of food, to mobile phone charging stations, showers and a plentiful supply of fresh hot and cold water. There’s also a swimming hole and dedicated “chill zone” underneath the willow trees to keep partygoers cool.

“We’ve got fantastic facilities for our campers and day-pass holders so they have everything they need while kicking back and listening to mind-blowing live music,” Turnbull says.

As well as impressive camping amenities, the internationally-respected festival has a stellar reputation for its innovative stage production. More than 50 acts will perform on R&A’s four stages, all of which feature a technical mix of state-of-the-art video projection mapping, LED screens and lighting, high-spec audio and bespoke visuals for the ultimate audio-visual experience.

“We’re really looking forward hosting all of our 10,000 ticket holders, putting on another spectacular show and ringing in 2018 with a bang,” adds Turnbull. “It’s going to be our best event yet.”
