There’s frankincense and gold … but wait - there’s mrryh! ‘The Big Gay Christmas Drag Show’ is back, for one night only!
This innovative, festive cabaret starring the capital’s most daring queens and kings extends their sold-out holiday
season, returning to The Fringe Bar on Friday December 22nd 2017.
For those looking for something a little sparkly this silly season, The Big Gay Christmas Drag Show may be just the gift
you’re looking for. This innovative and delightful cabaret will be reprising it’s sold-out season with a one-off show on
December 22nd at The Fringe Bar (Wellington, NZ) and stars a cast of the capital’s most spectacular drag talent snatched
straight from Santa’s naughty list. Expect to see parodies of your favourite Christmas movie tropes, dirty elves, a drag
queen Jesus, a kinky snowman, a scantily clad reindeer - the fat man himself may even make an appearance! (Pictures
available on his knee during half-time.)
‘This holly, jolly ordeal promises to be a not-so-silent night out’, says producer and MC Hugo Grrrl. ‘The cast of the
show are just outrageous. We’ve seen a real renaissance of drag in Wellington over the last few years and this show’s
really going to showcase the best of it.’
‘Drag really is for everyone. Your mum’s gonna love it, your workmates, and your boyfriend are all going to love it.
We’re all about having a good time, poking a bit of fun at festive mores and gender norms and sending everyone home with
a smile on their face and a bit of glitter in their hair.’
Hugo Grrrl, the alter-ego of comedy and cabaret producer Gen Fowler, is the creator of the project and also produces a
wide variety of other projects in Wellington and beyond including Naked Girls Reading NZ and The Wellington Pun Battle.
Grrrl is also reigning national drag king champion (‘Yes, there is such a thing!’ laughs Fowler) and was recently
awarded Best Producer in The Wellington Comedy Awards.
The Big Gay Christmas Drag Show returns for just one night only at 8pm at The Fringe Bar, Friday December 22nd.
Pre-sale tickets are just $20 and available through Eventfinder.co.nz.
