Two of New Zealand’s Much-Loved Stars Support Hospice with Farmers for Their Annual Christmas Campaign!

Actress and model Rachel Hunter has generously given up her valuable time to create a video to reinforce the incredible service offered by one of New Zealand’s much-loved charities – Hospice. Their annual fundraising campaign with Farmers is now active in store, encouraging donations to benefit hospices nationwide.

New Zealand’s favourite cooking star Jo Seagar, who’s been dubbed ‘cook of the nation’ is also giving a helping hand this Christmas. A hardworking volunteer ambassador for Hospice New Zealand since 1999, Jo gifts her time throughout the year to educate and encourage support for hospice. She also holds a Queen’s Honour for her services to the community, including her 17 years supporting Hospice NZ.

The charity bauble, designed by Jemma Smith adorned with the design of a Tui and Pohutukawa Tree, can be purchased at Farmers stores throughout New Zealand, with 100% of the $10 purchase price going directly to the hospice in each store’s region.

Alongside these specially designed baubles each Farmers store will have a Tree of Remembrance where, for a small donation, visitors can write a personal message on a card to hang on the tree. The Tree of Remembrance is an opportunity to remember someone special in the lead up to Christmas.

Hospice aims to help people make the most of their lives; to live every moment in whatever way is important to them. Many people think of hospice services as just a building, when in fact it is a philosophy of care. Most hospice services in New Zealand have inpatient facilities, but the majority of people are cared for in their own homes. Whilst this vital service receives the majority of funding from Government, financial support from the community is vital to ensure services remain free of charge, every year hospices must raise over $45M from the community.
