Macdonald Keen to Maintain Advantage
After a winning start to the defence of his Class 2 BNT V8’s Championship title at Pukekohe at the beginning of November, Invercargill driver, Liam MacDonald is back on track at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park at Taupo this weekend.
MacDonald took a clean sweep to win the round at Pukekohe and is looking for yet another strong outing at Taupo. He has only raced at the central North Island circuit once before, twelve months ago, but on that occasion he won the round with two wins and a third placing.
“I am looking forward to the round,” said Liam this week. “Last season was my first time there but I enjoyed the circuit layout and got the round win. The Speedy Signs Ford Falcon remained in Auckland since the last round so we will travel north to check it over and carry out any maintenance before the weekend.”
Liam leads Class 2 with 225 points from Robert Wallace of Tauranga with 188 and Chelsea Herbert of Auckland with 181.
MacDonald’s campaign in the 2017/2018 BNT V8’s Championship is supported by Speedy Signs, EmbroidMe, Southern Automobiles, Castrol NZ, GT Radial NZ, Million Dollar Cruise Queenstown, Marsh Motorsport, Classic Car Warehouse Invercargill, Advanti Racing and YHI NZ, Ideal Electrical, BNT NZ, Auto Windscreen Replacement Ltd, Southern Bolts & Fasteners, Auto Fab, Ralston Sheetmetal, Invercargill; NAC Insurance, CS Auto Refinishing, Invercargill, DAL Photographics, Discount Tyres Invercargill and a Sport Scholarship with the Community Trust of Southland.
