Taupo to Host Round 1 of New Zealand Summer Wakeboarding Season
The Wakeboarding New Zealand summer season kicks off this Saturday 25 November at Taupo Wake Park.
Riders of all ages and abilities are encouraged to take part, with Wake NZ shifting to a new ability-based format for its competitions this season. Riders can choose to ride in six divisions, from Rookie/Novice to Pro.
Spectators can attend the Taupo event for free, and will have the opportunity to see some of New Zealand’s best wakeboarders in action, including reigning national champion, Regan Carlyon.
The summer calendar includes two more Rounds, at Backpaddock Lakes, Waipukurau on 27-28 January 2018 and Lake Maraetai, Mangakino on 24-25 February 2018. The final Nationals event will take place at Horahora Domain on 6-7 April 2018.
Riders score points for their placing in each Round, with overall ‘King of Wake’ winners announced in each division, at the Nationals event in April.
