Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to Open 25th Anniversary SPADA Conference
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon Jacinda Ardern will launch the Screen Production and Development Association (SPADA) 25th Anniversary Conference in Wellington this week.
The Prime Minister who is also Minister for Arts Culture and Heritage will open the two-day event on November 23, which features luminaries from within the New Zealand industry and high-profile international guests.
SPADA represents New Zealand film and television producers and is dedicated to seeing New Zealand’s screen industry flourish for the cultural and economic benefit of New Zealanders.
Executive Director Sandy Gildea says the annual conference is an important opportunity for industry to re-connect, to hear from thought-provoking local and international speakers and to be inspired.
“It is an honour to have the Rt. Hon Jacinda Ardern launch our silver anniversary conference.
“We welcome the Government’s ongoing commitment to the New Zealand screen sector and look forward to working collaboratively to see the sector continue to grow and thrive.”
Dame Jane Campion also joins the stellar line-up of local and international guests, and along with a special guest will make the NZ On Air John O’Shea Memorial address. Other Conference speakers include international children’s, family media and new technology specialist David Kleeman, LA based co-president of Cornerstone Films and former acquisitions executive Mark Gooder (Slumdog Millionaire, The Queen, 12 Years a Slave and Paranormal Activity), and BAFTA member and Academy Award-winning VFX producer Jeremy Hall.
The 25th SPADA Conference is produced with the support of strategic partners WREDA and the NZ Film Commission and key sponsors NZ On Air, Images and Sound, Screenrights, Park Road Post Production, and South Pacific Pictures.
