Experience Returns for Tonga
Experience Returns for Tonga
Experienced internationals Michael Jennings and Sam Moa will be back for Tonga in the Rugby League World Cup quarter final in Christchurch on Saturday.
Mate Ma’a Tonga will face the under-rated Lebanon outfit, who pushed the Australian Kangaroos in their final pool match last weekend.
Both teams have made history at this World Cup by qualifying for the quarter finals.
Moa comes into the squad after missing last week’s win over New Zealand, where Tevita Pangai junior was given his first chance of the tournament.
Pangai junior impressed in his Test debut and was installed in Tonga’s top 17 when the extended squad of 21 was released today. He is on the bench in place of Peni Terepo, who is out with an ankle injury.
Jennings comes straight back in after missing the match with the Kiwis because of a hamstring complaint, with Mahe Fonua still in the extended squad.
Joe Ofahengaue and Samisoni Langi come into the list of reserves.
Mate Ma’a Tonga are supported in this World Cup campaign by the diversified investment and wealth management company Oreana Group, the Tongan Government (www.Tongaholiday.com), R.D & S Prior Drainage and Plumbing Contractors, Tonga Power Limited, FI-TA, Tucorp, Classic Concrete Pumping, EPS Electrical Project Solutions, The Miller Family and Optimum Nutrition.
