Auckland Pathway to Podium athletes prepare for busy awards season

As the end of year draws near, 29 young emerging athletes involved in Auckland’s Pathway to Podium programme have been
nominated or won awards at annual sports awards across the region.
Pathway to Podium, managed by Aktive for Sport NZ and High Performance Sport NZ, is a nationwide athlete development
programme that grows capability in emerging athletes who are identified as potential future winners on the world stage.
Athletes on the programme are selected by their respective national sporting organisations across 14 hubs around New
Zealand. Auckland is the largest hub with over 90 young emerging athletes taking part in the programme.
Luke Morriss, Coaching and Talent Development Manager, says Aktive is proud to see so many Pathway to Podium athletes
winning or being nominated across the multiple awards.
"It is a real testament to the hard work that these young athletes are putting into not only their training but also
their ‘off-field’ development as pre-elite athletes," says Luke Morriss. "We are confident that we will see many of
these athletes nominated and winning in their respective codes in the future."
