Get along to the Awesome Arts Access Auction
Luxury getaways to New Plymouth, Auckland and Christchurch; dinner dates in fine restaurants; fabulous art from the quirky to the collectible; and tickets to live performance are just a few of more than 60 items up for grabs at the annual Awesome Arts Access Auction, to be held at the CQ Hotels Wellington on Thursday 30 November.
Richard Benge, Executive Director, Arts Access Aotearoa, says: “Everyone in New Zealand has the right to express themselves creatively, and be included as audience members and visitors to galleries and museums
“The auction is a great opportunity to have some fun, buy some Christmas presents  and also support the work we do to increase access to the arts for everyone in Wellington and the rest of the country.
“Individuals, businesses and arts organisations in the Cuba Quarter, Wellington and beyond are always extremely generous and we’re grateful to everyone who donates items for us to auction.”
A feature of this year’s auction are three valuable artworks that will be sought after by art collectors. The live auction will have 15 items, ranging from weekend escape packages to artwork.
Items in the silent auction include a gym membership; kete woven by prisoners; beauty treatments; fine dining; coffee table books and new fiction; and tickets to live performance.
Along with a free first drink and canapés throughout the evening, live jazz will be performed by members of Rodger Fox’s Wellington Jazz Orchestra.
Auctioneer Peter Wedde of Peter Wedde Antiques in Kelburn has again volunteered his time to persuade the punters to increase their bids for a good cause.
