Stall applications open for 2018 Pasifika Festival
Bring on the palusami, pai fala or
keke 'isite. Break out the colourful ei katu, fragrant
coconut oils or pareus – stallholder applications are open
for the 2018 Pasifika Festival.
The festival takes place on Saturday, 24 March and Sunday, 25 March at Western Springs Park.
The festival is divided into 11 villages, each representing a different Pacific Island culture and with its own entertainment stage and stalls, where food and crafts specific to each culture are on sale.
There are also pan-Pacific hubs with information stalls, including not-for-profit organisations, and stalls selling food or products which span multiple Pacific Island cultures.
One of Auckland’s most popular and long-running cultural festivals, Pasifika is now in its 26th year, celebrating and showcasing Tāmaki Makaurau’s Pacific Islands whanau.
The 2018 festival will see stalls open at the earlier time of 9am on the Saturday of the festival, following feedback from community representatives.
Applications can be made online at www.aucklandnz.com/pasifika/become-stallholder. The deadline for completed stallholder applications is 12 January 2018.
The 2018 Pasifika Festival is
delivered by Auckland Tourism, Events & Economic Development
(ATEED), on behalf of Auckland Council, in conjunction with
the Pasifika Festival Villages Trust, which guides the
cultural integrity and community accessibility of the
event.
