Terror-Fi Film Festival launches in Wellington this month
A new film festival celebrating horror, thriller and sci-fi, launches in Wellington on 23 November – tickets are on sale
now!
The Terror-Fi Film Festival is a showcase of the very best horror, thriller, and sci-fi from around the world.
Partnering with The Roxy in Miramar, Wellington, the festival runs from 23 to 26 November, 2017. It hosts eight feature films and eight short films; five of the features will be New Zealand premiere screenings. There’s also a special “Secret Screening” – one of the
premieres – on Saturday 25 November.
There’s something for every genre fan here, opening with the acclaimed zombie horror-drama THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS,
starring Gemma Arterton, Paddy Considine and Glenn Close. Other highlights include the gripping action-thrillers 68 KILL
and THE VILLAINESS; the new Daniel Radcliffe survival thriller JUNGLE; the claustrophobically creepy WWI horror TRENCH
11; retro sci-fi with FORBIDDEN PLANET; and a 30th anniversary screening of the sci-fi classic ROBOCOP – the Director’s
Cut!
“This is an exciting line-up. It’s going to be amazing to see these films on the big screen in New Zealand,” says
Festival Director James Partridge, of Admit One. “As a fan, I’ll be in every session.”
The festival will also promote New Zealand talent through its short film programme, by presenting some of New Zealand’s best genre shorts. A short film will play before every feature film screening. The
goal is to develop more pathways for New Zealand talent; this year’s best short receives a $10,000 grant of services
from Avalon Studios.
“In time, the festival aims to be home to New Zealand’s best feature-length genre films,” says James.
A festival can’t exist without sponsors and partners. The Terror-Fi Festival is proud to announce the College of
