BOYLESQUE STAR BRINGS THE RAZZLE DAZZLE TO WELLINGTON
THE BURLESQUE MASQUERADE BALL WEEKEND
TAKES PLACE IN WELLINGTON FROM
10 NOVEMBER – 11 NOVEMBER
Raven: The Dark Prince of Burlesque, who was crowned Mr Boylesque Australia 2012 will be the headlining star of the
annual New Zealand burlesque spectacle- The Burlesque Masquerade Ball, coming up soon in Wellington.
Australian-born and trained Raven is a master of the neo style and a fearless innovator. His routines are intense,
provocative, and take audiences to the edge of understanding their desire.
The Burlesque Masquerade Ball is now in it's eigth year and is being held at Hannah Playhouse, 12 Cambridge Terrace at 7pm. This high-class revue
brings a wide variety of talented performances such as burlesque, circus, cabaret, salsa and comedy to one stage for an
action packed night of glitz and glamour.
There are amazing prizes for Best Dressed and well-loved local musicians, Tom LaHatte & his Jazz Bandits, will be playing live for the inaugral dance.
Additionally, the first New Zealand artist to be enshrined in the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas and winner of Miss
Burlesque New Zealand 2012, Miss La Vida will play host for the evening.
In conjunction with The Burlesque Masquerade Ball, Raven and Miss La Vida will be teaching workshops and a 'Showgirl Market' during the day on Saturday 11 November at
Studio L'amour 10am-3pm.
Stallholders will be selling clothing, lingerie, shoes, costumes, corsets, accessories, jewellery, makeup, fascinators,
rhinestones, trims and more!
Whether you love burlesque, pole fitness, pin-up or vintage, or simply addicted to sprkly things, attendees are bound
find something to love.
The Burlesque Masquerade Ball is produced by Courtney L'amour, award winning, international burlesque performer. She has been teaching burlesque for
ten years, having settled in the Wellington after years of travel and performance work in New Zealand and overseas.
"Burlesque is special because it allows the performer to express themselves freely, without conforming to a stereotype.
Bodies aren't stereotyped either – you can be any body shape, and be a burlesque performer" Courtney says of the dance
form.
