Poets Slam Their Way to a Championship Title.
Who will be the next champion? You decide! New Zealand Poetry Slam presents the 2017 National Poetry Slam Finals, where the top poets from across Aotearoa will battle it out in Hamilton on Saturday November 4th for the chance to be crowned New Zealand National Slam Champion with nothing but their words, passion and a microphone.
Poets representing Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Tauranga, Whakatane, Christchurch and Southern Lakes will have three rounds to read their own original work and win over the audience. With judges selected from the audience, the power is with the people to pick their own champion. The winner will receive literary and cash prizes, as well as a year’s worth of bragging rights.
Established in 2011, New Zealand Poetry Slam hosts the annual National Slam Finals to bring together poets and audiences in a hilarious and moving literary battle for all ages.
