RLWC2017 is coming to Christchurch when New Zealand takes on Scotland on 4 November 2017, followed by a quarter final on 18 November 2017.

It is the first time that the Kiwis will play in Christchurch for 11 years.

The New Zealand team will be hosted in the city from 29 October 2017 and will be undertaking several engagement events prior to match day on 4 November 2017 at Christchurch Stadium.

The Scotland team will also be available via an Open Training Session and will receive an official RLWC2017 welcome at a Pōwhiri on 1 November at Rehua Marae, 79 Springfield Road, Christchurch.

Sunday 29 October, 4.20pm

Christchurch International Airport

The full New Zealand Team will be arriving on a domestic flight into Christchurch. They are expected to receive a warm Christchurch welcome by the public and children from the local rugby league community. The winners of the RLWC children’s art competition will also be present alongside their artwork at the temporary RLWC airport art installation.

Sunday 29 October, 6pm

128 Lichfield Street, Christchurch

Contemporary international artist Mr Graham Hoete (Mr.G) will be adding to the vibrant street art across Christchurch with a special commission of New Zealand Coach, 25 test cap Kiwi and Hornby Panthers player, David Kidwell.

David Kidwell will be present and both artist and subject will be available to media.

The commission starts on Wednesday 25 October, 128 Lichfield Street, Christchurch. Mr G will be in residence from 11am each day.

30 October, 3-4pm

Christchurch Adventure Park tree planting

The New Zealand Team will be at the Christchurch Adventure Park undertaking tree plantings. Team members will be available to speak to media about the tournament, the upcoming match and their aspiration of being crowned world champions.

31 October, 10.30 – 12.30pm

Linfield Park, Linwood, Christchurch 8062

The New Zealand Kiwis will have an open training session at Linfield Park. Local schools have been encouraged to attend where possible.

31 October, 3.00 – 4.30pm

Wainoni Park, Aranui, Christchurch 8061

Scotland have an open training session planned at Wainoni Park and will receive a warm community welcome from Haeata Community Campus students.

1 November, 5.00 -7.30pm

Rehua Marae, 79 Springfield Road, St Albans

Scotland receive their official welcome to New Zealand at an invite only Pōwhiri at Rehua Marae, 79 Springs Road. Media will need to be accredited for the event and adhere to marae protocols. Please register interest to attend by 5pm 30 October to communications@christchurchnz.com
