Meet the drivers at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint Pukekohe Fan Day
Celebrate the ITM Auckland SuperSprint 2017 with a warm Pukekohe welcome for the Supercars drivers on Thursday, 2 November.
The Pukekohe Town Square will host the official Fan Day for this year’s ITM Auckland SuperSprint from 4-7pm, complete with classic cars on display, signings and selfies with the drivers, fun games and activities, and a chance to contribute to official ITM and SuperSprint charity Big Buddy.
Supercars drivers will be in the square from 5.15-6.15pm, and include New Zealanders Scott McLaughlin, Fabian Coulthard and Shane van Gisbergen, as well as Craig Lowndes, Jamie Whincup, Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert, Cam Waters and Jason Bright.
There will be a DJ on stage, pedal cars, the chance to play Xbox One’s Forza Motorsport 7, food and beverages on sale, and lots of fun.
The ITM Auckland SuperSprint Pukekohe Fan Day is being produced by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), for Auckland Council, in conjunction with Supercars and ITM.
The Fan Day is part of the lead-up to the ITM Auckland SuperSprint at Pukekohe Park Raceway on 3 - 5 November, the only New Zealand fixture in Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
ATEED General Manager Destination Steve Armitage says it’s all happening in Pukekohe in the lead-up to the ITM Auckland SuperSprint.
“This year the excitement is rising fast. The strong Kiwi contingent, with three of our drivers in the top five of this Australian-based series, is giving the Aussies a run for their money. Fabian Coulthard is back in contention, and the championship is by no means decided.
“The Pukekohe Fan Day is an awesome opportunity to see and chat to drivers like Fabian and DJR Team Penske team-mate Scott McLaughlin, and Cam Waters after his Sandown victory.
“We’re pleased the Fan Day on Thursday will complement the community’s Cardboard Car Rally on Friday, and Friday will also see 2500 students from 33 schools descending on the stadium for Supercars’ Students on Track programme.”
Steve Armitage says people at the Fan Day can also check out the ‘Awesome AKLD’ campaign, promoting Franklin attractions to visitors here for the ITM Auckland SuperSprint, with offers and discounts exclusively available to SuperSprint ticket holders.
“We wanted to show people the wide range of great experiences around them in the Franklin region, from great eateries and shops, exciting adventure sports and activities, to beautiful scenery, and unique local art and culture. ‘Awesome AKLD’ lets visitors build a personalised electronic itinerary based on their own interests and preferences.”
Tickets for the ITM Auckland SuperSprint are available at Ticketek. Check out ‘Awesome AKLD’ at www.awesomeakld.co.nz [from Thursday, 26 October].
