Delaney Davidson in carnival mode – AOTNZ ‘Magic Lightbox’ tour Oct/Dec 2017
Remember the slide show of the returned traveller? Remember the projected image on a sheet in the living room? See these old-time images combined with evocative music in Delaney Davidson’s homage to lost ways of storytelling.
Blending live music and film, Arts Laureate Delaney gives us a glimpse of a forgotten time - dusty highways, old Europe, the ‘new world’ of the USA and New Zealand as you’ve never seen it before…..
Fresh from the success of his recent European tour, Delaney presents ‘Magic Lightbox’. Catch him before he disappears again for parts unknown.

Bio - Delaney Davidson
Artist Laureate of New Zealand 2015, three times winner of the NZ Country Music Song of the Year Award, awarded NZ Country Music Album Of The Year, finalist for the coveted NZ Apra Silver Scroll Award, and Winner of One Man Band Competition in Zurich, Delaney Davidson has earned great praise from the media and huge respect amongst his peers.
Forging his own identity on the European tour circuit, he has been a strong part of the Voodoo Rhythm Family of Switzerland since 2003 and is building a name for himself in the USA. Initially inspired by the songs of Hank Williams and the Birthday Party, together with the performance styles of Johnny Cash and Buster Keaton, Delaney has synthesized his own unique persona. The guitar and harmonica have become his trademark, a small battered suitcase a props table for his magic show, looping sounds over each other to achieve that old-fashioned carnival tent sound.
Delaney’s lyrical content ranges from classic murder ballads to songs with a deeper insight into human frailties, and a sympathy and acceptance of the quirks of life.

ENDS
Arts On Tour NZ (AOTNZ) organises tours of outstanding New Zealand performers to rural and smaller centres in New Zealand. The trust receives funding from Creative New Zealand, support from Interislander, and liaises with local arts councils, repertory theatres and community groups to bring the best of musical and theatrical talent to country districts. The AOTNZ programme is environmentally sustainable – artists travel to their audiences rather than the reverse.
