Blind Week raises vital funds for Kiwis with sight loss
The Blind Week street collection this Friday and Saturday, 6th and 7th October, will raise vital funds for the Blind Foundation.
The Blind Foundation supports Kiwis affected by blindness or sight loss with the vital practical and emotional support they need. That includes living independently, getting around safely, using technology, continuing to read and communicate, be socially active and staying in work to face their future with confidence.
Blind Foundation’s Chief Executive Sandra Budd, says: “We are currently only able to reach a third of the people who need our help, but with the generous support from all Kiwis, we can do so much more.”
Today at least three more New Zealanders will be told they are losing their sight and 20-plus people a week are referred to the Blind Foundation for support. Much of that support is only made possible by the donations from the New Zealand public.
Please donate during the Blind Week street collection – look out for the orange buckets in your local area – or donate online at blindweek.org.nz
