Long Drive International To Hit Auckland Early November
Another great event has been named on the Auckland sports calendar as the dates along with the venue for the New Zealand
Long Drive Golf International have been confirmed.
On Sunday November 5th Remuera Golf Club will host 16 long drive golfers from around the world including New Zealand as
they play for over US$10,000 prizemoney.
Along with the top quality hitting there will be food, music, Boulgaris Realty fireworks display in the evening, chances
for the public to test their long drive skills and plenty more.
Last year was a trial run of a Long Drive International in New Zealand and proved successful. Sam Jones from Taranaki
competed admirably in the recent men’s world long drive in Oklahoma and Phillis Meti just missed retaining her world
long drive title.
Early confirmation is that Maurice Allen, the winner of last year’s event will return. The American can send the ball
flying 471 metres down the fairway.
Meti will be in attendance at the Long Drive International and showing that female golfers can hit long as well as the
sport continues to grow rapidly around the world. Also making an appearance will be 11-year-old Joshua Bai from Auckland
who became the first New Zealander to win the US Kids World Championship, one month ago in North Carolina.
Grant Nicholas, Club Operations Manager at Remuera Golf Club says the event sits well with the vision of the club to
“provide a golfing, recreational and social experience second to none, in an environment which is relaxing and enjoyable
for all participants both current and future.”

catering for a wide range of people through both golf and social experiences. After last year’s trial event we know
we’re in for more great long driving and entertainment on November 5th. Aside from the top long drive competition with
some great players from around the world there will be a Free Community Event with Golf Demo’s, Kids Fun Zone, Live
Entertainment, Pop up Food outlets, Winstone’s Café, Bar & Bistro all leading into an amazing Fireworks finale generously sponsored by Boulgaris Realty.
The full player field will be confirmed at the beginning of October with some of the world’s best long drivers set to be
announced.
The IGANZ Long Drive International will be held at Remuera Golf Club on Sunday 5 November from 1pm, featuring 16
international and New Zealand players, finishing in the early evening.
