NZ Fringe 2018 Registrations open NOW, closing 10 October 2017
The dates for the 2018 NZ Fringe are set and registrations to participate are now open at www.fringe.co.nz! The open-access multi-genre arts festival where anything goes will run 2 to 24 March in 2018, no need to apply, just register your show at fringe.co.nz before 10 October.
Going into it’s 28th year the NZ Fringe will run 2 to 24 March in 2018. As an open-access uncensored festival absolutely anything goes from kids shows to late night cabaret, from outdoors to one-on-one performance art of all kinds is welcome in Fringe.
NZ Fringe is the oldest and largest Fringe Festival in New Zealand. Since 1990 the festival has wowed audiences annually in summer with surprises and delights. Surging in size and popularity in recent years the NZ Fringe put over $400,000 into the pockets of artists in 2017.
Running for 23 days, Fringe provides the largest and most concentrated mix of talent across all art forms in the country. It includes contemporary work in all genres including (but never limited to) audio, busking, cabaret, clowning, comedy, circus, dance, film, fashion, improvisation, music, online, physical theatre, podcast, poetry, puppetry, spoken word / storytelling, theatre, visual & digital art.
Fringe is recognised as a unique launch pad for new and established artists to try things and introduce audiences to the possibilities, from Footnote Dance to Flight of the Conchords, Strike Percussion to Trick of the Light, it’s almost a rite of passage for NZ performers with alumni including Robyn Malcolm and James Nokise.
Fringe encourages participants to take creative risks. This is the chance for our creative community to test their new ideas, getting their work in front of people. We’ve developed audiences over the years that are up for it, why not take them there?!
As an open-access, non-programmed festival it means that anyone at all can enter a show in our programme. As long as it’s (basically) legal and you pay your registration fees, you’re in! Shows are self-produced with the support of the festival team. If anyone needs advice they can check out our website or contact our office Tel: 212 4725 Email: welcome@fringe.co.nz.
