The No Fefe Collective presents
Public Service
Announcements; Stranger Politics
6.30pm,
12 - 16 September, BATS Theatre
Wellington’s favorite recurring political satire show returns just in time for the election. Public Service Announcements is Wellington’s longest running political satire, started in 2011 by award winning comedian James Nokise and actress Anya Tate-Manning. This season will be the No Fefe Collective’s fourteenth show, and the writers are currently overwhelmed with material for lampooning our MPs.
“Election time is the best time for making satire, all the politicians are up to something. But this year is more frantic than ever, we’re struggling to keep up” – Producer, Anya Tate-Manning
With a knack for predictions, writers Thom Adams and James Nokise are occasionally spooked by how accurate the show is. The very first season in May 2011, saw Winston returning with 7%, which reviewers called ‘absurd’. Earlier this year the Comedy Festival season in April saw the Green party leadership collapsing and Jacinda becoming the Labour party leader.
The only political agenda for the show is laughter and we make fun of everyone - no politician is safe!
A star-studded cast of local actors play our politicians with verve, including Bronwyn Turei (Go Girls), Hayden Frost (The Almighty Johnsons), and Allan Henry (Girl vs Boy). Written by Thom Adams and political comedian James Nokise. Directed by acclaimed theatre maker Isobel Mackinnon.
