Dance That Will Delight the Whole Family’s Senses
Presented by Auckland Live with Java Dance Theatre in Association with Tempo Dance Festival Dirt And Other Delicious Ingredients
Auckland Live and Java Dance Theatre are bringing the outstanding family show, Dirt and Other Delicious Ingredients to the Bruce Mason Centre from 11 – 14 October as part of this year’s Tempo Dance Festival and Auckland Live Kids Play. Children will love going to this playful, squishy dance show in the October school holidays!
Creating a charming piece of dance theatre for three to eight-year-olds, the esteemed Kiwi company Java Dance Theatre have travelled as far as Edinburgh Fringe Festival with their beloved sell-out shows. After successful seasons throughout New Zealand and internationally, Dirt and Other Delicious Ingredients lands in Auckland for the very first time to delight kids with this exciting and incredibly immersive live event.
A feast for the senses, cinnamon and spices cover the stage, and children will love the climactic tomato fight. Constructing an imaginative world, the dancers spring from, jump off, roll around, and drum on barrels, using them as clever story-telling elements for physical comedy to help bring the show to life. The stunning choreography is combined with percussive drumming and the delicious notes of coffee and cinnamon, making for a unique dance show.
Director and choreographer Sacha Copland says:
“I love creating physical tactile worlds for the dancers and audience to play in. Everything that we consume and create comes from ingredients found in the earth.”
Dirt and Other Delicious Ingredients is part of the fantastic Auckland Live Kids Play, which focuses on helping tamariki take part in the arts. This programme, developed by Auckland Live, allows children to discover and actively experience a diverse range of high calibre live performances, and share special moments together as a family at affordable prices.
Auckland Live Manager of Programme Development, Georgina Cervin, says,“Auckland Live is thrilled to bring such high quality New Zealand work to our city, as well as supporting talented artists and providing great access to ignite the imaginations of young people and their whanau”.
An enchanting experience for all, no matter your age, Dirt and Other Delicious Ingredients is utterly original theatre perfect for the whole whānau.
