‘entrepreneurial’ Toastmasters starts in Wellington
A new Toastmasters chapter is inviting savvy-minded people to join its weekly central city meetings.
Collider Toastmasters meet at 7.15am each Wednesday morning at the Biz Dojo, 115 Tory St. It continues the 93 year old tradition of self-training confident public speakers.
“Being assured while talking in front of an audience is something that’s on a huge number of people’s bucket list,’ says Collider Toastmasters president, Tony Henderson-Newport.
“We’re a wide-ranging, welcoming bunch of supportive women and men who are really keen to help each other improve.
“The addition of more people will help us grow and thrive even more.”
The Toastmasters format of impromptu and prepared speeches, along with positive feedback and recommendations is a proven way to improve public speaking.
Toastmasters firmly believes everyone can enhance their presentation and leadership skills.
The weekly one hour meeting from 7.15am is designed for busy people, and does not interfere with their working lives. Some people may prefer to attend every other week or so.
“One of the best aspects of our Collider Toastmasters group is the laughter,” says Tony.
“Many talks are both intentionally and unintentionally funny, and people always leave our meetings with a smile on their face. It is also a great place to make new friendships.”
The six monthly fee for Toastmaster is only $70. This is by far the best value-for-money self-improvement an individual can make for themselves.
