Schoolboy Q To Headline 15th Episode of Rhythm And Vines
Schoolboy Q, mura masa, 2manydjs (Live), Giggs, Baauer and many more to headline as Rhythm and Vines 2017 sets to sell
out.
The much anticipated release of acts for Rhythm and Vines 2017 is here. Following on from the sold out festival in 2016,
this year has already seen the festival’s campsites reach near capacity with over 80% of the festival’s overall capacity
being reached before today’s lineup announcement.
The momentum continues today for the festival with the release of some of the world’s hottest festival acts, headlined
by the return to New Zealand of Hip Hop legendSchoolboy Q. The American rapper’s stocks are riding hot with his recent electric performances at Splendour in the Grass and
Coachella. His collaborations with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kanye West and A$AP Rocky places him in the
upper echelon of Hip Hop worldwide.
Also riding hot is 21 year old Guernsey-born producer mura masa, best known for his track “Love Sick” which hit Number 1 on Spotify’s Viral Charts in UK and USA. Belgium electronic superstars 2manydjs (Live) will be bringing back their full live show to Gisborne, last appearing on the Rhythm Stage in 2009.The R 2017 lineup also features British grime act Giggs, trap producer Baauer, and Drum and Bass hitmakers Wilkinsonand Netsky, fulfilling their promise to make another return to Gisborne again. Other international acts rounding off the first
release include A-Trak, Felix da Housecat, Boombox Cartel, B. Traits, Sub Focus DJ Set, Camo & Krooked, Cut Snake, Solardo, Rezz, DJ T, Pomo and Setmo.
“With over 80% of the tickets sold before the lineup was released, it shows people are buying into the experience once
again to be first in the world to bring in the year at R,” says festival founder Hamish Pinkham. “This lineup will resonate well with kiwi music lovers as well as attract international travellers to the Gisborne
region.”
Honouring the festival's long held commitment to fostering and showcasing local talent, the first release of Kiwi acts
includes David Dallas, Sachi, Jess B, Chores, Clicks, Yoko Zuna, SNIFFERS, Ria Hall, Montell2099 as well as the return of the “Prince of Waiohika” P-Money.
The Giggle and Vines comedy segment will also see a significant boost this year, with the booking of Australian comedy legend Heath Franklin’s CHOPPER (7Days), alongside local talent Simon McKinney, David Correos, Melanie Bracewell and Will Wood.
2017 will see the festival celebrate its 15th year of welcoming in the New Year at Waiohika Estate in Gisborne. Starting
as a small concert to celebrate the New Year for the founder’s university friends, Rhythm and Vines has grown into a
world class three day music and camping festival which has seen over 250,000 festival goers walk through the gates to
see over 500 local and international acts taking the stage over the festival's history. To celebrate this, Rhythm and
Vines is currently hosting an exhibition held at All Press Gallery in Auckland until August 18, which provides a
restrospective look back on 15 year’s of R lineups. For more information, head to www.rhythmandvines.co.nz/reflections2017.
Festival goers are strongly encouraged to get their tickets quickly as the festival sets to sell out by October. Camping
