Kennards for Kids taking hire higher to give KidsCan $45,000
Kennards Hire has wrapped up its annual Kennards for Kids charity initiative, with $45,000 raised for KidsCan to support disadvantaged children across New Zealand, and more than $550,000 earmarked for a host of other charitable organisations.
The donation to KidsCan will directly help with programs to support hundreds of children gain access to education. Without these programs that KidsCan dedicate themselves to, a large number of youth would not have the prospect at a better life.
KidsCan CEO and founder Julie Chapman, said, “We believe that education equals opportunity and that every child, regardless of their social economic background, should have an equal chance to get a good education. Sadly, this isn’t the case for the 1 in 4 New Zealand children living in hardship.”
“The KidsCan Charitable Trust works in partnership with 646 low decile schools providing tangible items such as food, raincoats, shoes and basic health care products. The generous funds raised from Kennards for Kids will help KidsCan provide even more New Zealand children with tangible items so they can make the most of their education and create a brighter future for themselves,” she said.
For almost 20 years, the Kennards Hire branch network has helped raise awareness and funds for charitable organisations that support sick and disadvantaged children, and their families, through the Kennards for Kids campaign. Since landed in New Zealand almost five years ago, the Kennards Hire team has worked hard to help every hire count during the Kennards for Kids campaign period.
“We are proud to support the KidsCan charity and make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children,” said Tom Kimber, General Manager of Kennards Hire in New Zealand.
“With our growth and our loyal customers, we have been able to give more to the charity, making this year a record outcome KidsCan. They share our ‘one family’ value and are a perfectly aligned match for the Kennards for Kids campaign,” he said.
“It’s great we can make a difference to even more kids and families this year. It really is hire for a higher purpose,” Kimber added.
Throughout March and April, $2.00 from every hire was set aside as a direct donation to eight incredible children’s charities, including Variety - the Children's Charity in both South Australia and Victoria, The Constable Care Child Safety Foundation (WA), HeartKids (ACT), Red Kite (NSW), the Children’s Hospital Foundation (QLD), as well as Kidsafe NT and KidsCan in New Zealand - making the Kennards for Kids campaign the company’s largest customer driven charity initiative for this year.
As in previous years, in addition to the funds raised through this campaign, the family-operated company also supports other organisations that provide essential services to children and families in need. This year, Stepping Stone House ($180,000) and KidsExpress ($50,000) will be beneficiaries of the Kennards Hire donations program. The Smith Family also received a $120,000 donation, which was announced at the recent Kennards Hire Branch Managers conference.
