Mediaworks’ Newest Radio Show ‘Rural Exchange’Premieres Next Month on Radiolive

MediaWorks is proud to announce the launch of Rural Exchange, a new cross-platform show on RadioLIVE that will provide modern, entertaining and informative content for the sector that is the backbone of New Zealand's economy.

Airing Saturdays and Sundays from 5am-7am on RadioLIVE with a special segment within The AM Show on Fridays and a 24/7 channel on rova, Rural Exchange will provide a new voice for farmers and the show’s two-hour, twice-weekly format will allow in-depth examination of the latest innovations and technologies within the agribusiness sector.

Rural Exchange premieres on Saturday, 5th August 2017 and will be hosted by Richard “Loey” Loe, Sarah Perriam and Hamish McKay.

Richard Loe is the legendary former All Blacks forward who wore the black jersey in three world cups. ‘Loey’ has a lifetime of work in rural circles and currently owns and operates a sheep and beef farm in the Rakaia Gorge. He says: “There aren't many things that would get me out of bed at three o'clock in the morning to then drive an hour from the farm...but this show is worth it. Finally, a relevant voice for us rural people and a show my city-mates will enjoy."

Sarah Perriam was born and raised on a sheep and beef farm in Central Otago and has spent the last half decade producing, presenting, directing and creating Rural TV content. Sarah says: “I’m beyond excited to be involved in a much-needed rural programme that has the ability to expand with MediaWorks’ scale of resources and talent. There are a number of people who’ve worked tirelessly in the background over many years to bring this show to fruition. I am particularly excited to be given the opportunity to showcase and provide content for our female farming demographic and I know that the REX team will all be working hard to represent New Zealand’s rural voice.”

Hamish McKay may live and work in the city, but cut him and he bleeds rural. The former Newshub sports presenter has established himself as a successful real estate agent in Auckland but many may not be aware that he was a New Zealand Shearing Championships junior finalist, he still milks regularly on his sister’s farm in the Manawatu and he has an association with some of the country’s leading thoroughbred studs, including Waikato Stud. "I've never forgotten, and stay closely connected, to my rural roots,” says Hamish. “Hence, much of my interest in daily news is based around the amazing stories that flow from the rural community - the backbone of our great country. The opportunity to bring the country and city together has drawn me back by the microphone! I'll also bring a Northern balance to the one-eyed South Islanders who I'll shoot the ‘farming breeze’ with every weekend! And I'm looking forward to the speed shearing challenge ‘Loey’ has thrown out there. Yes, the banter, all I can say is, standby!”

RadioLIVE Acting Network Director, Scott Walker says: “We are looking forward to driving the discussion around all aspects of ‘agri living’, ranging from farming innovation to smart money, weather and rural real estate, in a format we know works for the local farming audience.”
