The largest Italian Festival in New Zealand is back in Auckland and bigger than ever — bringing all the culture, music,
art and design that Italy can offer in Aotearoa, plus all the fantastico food!
Italians and fans of Italy alike will start celebrating the Italian Festival Season in Auckland from 30 August with a
variety of events in the city: movies and art, music and ballet, and of course fantastic food and drink, with restaurant

The grand finale of the Italian Festival Season will be the annual Italian community street festival in Newmarket — the
Festival Italiano — on 1 October in Osborne St, Kent St, Rialto Centre, Lumsden Green and all around Newmarket.
Sir John Kirwan, President of the Dante Alighieri Italian Society of Auckland, the main player behind the Festival,
commented: “Kiwis love Italy and Italians love New Zealand. Festival Italiano is the great occasion when we all meet and
enjoy life the Italian way, right here in Auckland!”
The Festival is free to enter. On the day we will have al fresco lunches with leading Italian restaurants, plus an Italian market with over 30 stalls. Along with live music and
entertainment, art activities for children, delicious tastings, workshops and exhibits, there’ll be a display of Italian
sports cars and bikes, spot prizes and the chance to win a fantastic trip to Italy.
Auckland’s Dante Alighieri Society organises Festival Italiano in collaboration with the Newmarket Business Association,
