All-Star Child Cast Confirmed for A Doll’s House
Director Katherine McRae has lined up an all-star cast of children to work alongside her adult cast in the Circa season
of A Doll’s House, re-imagined from Ibsen’s original by Emily Perkins. The characters of twins Billy and Bee will be
shared by two sets of children, playing alternate nights.
The role of Billy will be shared by Levi Alexander and Miko Peszynski. This production will be a professional stage
debut for Levi, who played young Pete in the Disney production of Pete’s Dragon, last year. No stranger to the screen,
Levi has worked with Katherine McRae once before on her short film Abandon Ship when he was three years old. In the same
film Sophie Hambleton played his on-screen Mum, and will play his mother once again as Nora Helmer in A Doll’s House.
Miko was also in Abandon Ship and most recently worked on the much anticipated new YouTube series Happy Playland by The
Candle Wasters, which will air later this year. Bee will be played by Sophie Fulton and Jessica Southey. Sophie has
recently finished filming a feature role in the Universal Studios feature film Mortal Engines, due to be released in
December 2018. She had her first role acting in the Legendary Pictures feature film Krampus in 2015 at 5 years old and
has a wealth of stage experience, including singing solo in Broadway Studio Next Generation at BATS theatre earlier this
year. She is the youngest member in the Wellington Young Voices choir ever to be chosen as a soloist for their Manawatu
concert.
Jessica is an active member of the Junior Musical Theatre group, has participated in group trinity drama productions and
enjoys performing in the Con Brio choir. Of working with the children, Katherine says, “I feel lucky to have four such
talented young actors. It’s fascinating to see that some children know how to act – they just get it. They understand
make-believe and have a lot of empathy and they bring that to their work. Luckily they also have very supportive parents
who are happy for them to go on this journey.”
The children will join the cast of Sophie Hambleton (TV’s Westside), Arthur Meek, Kali Kopae, Francis Biggs and Peter
McCauley.
The Chapman Tripp season of A Doll’s House is presented by arrangement with Playmarket and shows at Circa Theatre, 1
Taranaki Street, Wellington from 5 August to 2 September (preview 4 August).
