Te Tuhi announce Gabriela Salgado as Artistic Director
Te Tuhi Contemporary Art Trust are pleased to announce the
appointment of
Gabriela Salgado as Artistic
Director.
Gabriela is an Argentine-born curator currently based in London and holds an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art. She has curated numerous exhibitions including 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2009) and La Otra Bienal de Arte, Bogotá (2013). Gabriela has been curator of the Collection of Latin American Art at Essex University (1999-2005) and curator of Public Programmes at Tate Modern (2006-2011). She has lectured in over twenty countries, published widely and acted as a jury member for organisations including Prince Claus Fund and Videobrasil Festival.
Gabriela works internationally as curator and consultant with a focus on the culturally diverse global south, which includes Latin America, Africa, and South East Asia, and this has led to the creation of a programme of exchanges between African and Latin American artists. She brings to Te Tuhi extensive resources through her experience and contacts within the world of contemporary art.
Te Tuhi is renowned for supporting curatorial research resulting in exhibitions that are locally engaged, regionally responsive and internationally ambitious with a strong awareness of social, political and environmental issues, and Gabriela is an excellent match with these values.
Gabriela Salgado will be joining Te Tuhi in November 2017.
