Peter Garrett makes special appearance ahead of Midnight Oil’s Christchurch show in September
WORD Christchurch is pleased to announce Peter Garrett: Big Blue Sky, as part of its Shifting Points of View series held in association with Christchurch Arts Festival.
In between Midnight Oil’s two New Zealand concerts, the band’s charismatic frontman Peter Garrett makes a special intimate appearance on 10 September
to talk about his creative and political life, as outlined in his recent memoir Big Blue Sky.
Peter Garrett's life has been fully and passionately lived. A man of boundless energy, compassion, intelligence and creativity, he has already achieved enough to fill several lives. From his early interest in equality and justice to fronting iconic Australian band Midnight Oil; from his time as a galvanising activist for the environment to being a minister in two Labor governments, Garrett has an extraordinary story to tell.
Garrett appears in conversation with journalist Finlay Macdonald, followed by an audience Q & A. Fans will then have the chance to buy his book and meet the man in person to have it signed.
‘We are thrilled to have Peter Garrett take time out of his busy Midnight Oil tour schedule to talk about his wonderful memoir in between his two New Zealand shows,’ says WORD Christchurch programme director Rachael King. ‘Fans travelling from out of town for the concert on 11 September might consider arriving a day early to take advantage of the opportunity.’
