All Female Cast Spark a Bright Flame for the Future!

Massive Theatre Company’s newest emerging artist show Chance To Ignite is shaping up to be a highly physical production which will ignite the spirit and lift the soul, when it premieres at Q Theatre, July 25 – 29, and Mangere Arts Centre, August 2 – 5.

The brand-new show, devised and performed by selected members of the Massive Nui Ensemble, follows a recipe for excellence, bringing together seven brilliant young women and their real stories; adding in a dash of martial arts with boxing and jujitzu, and seasoned with a lot of sass, for the perfect chance to illuminate the world. This is a powerfully strong work that will deliver joy and reveal the truths we so often keep to ourselves. Chance to Ignite is led by a cast of empowered young women aged from 16-25 years, showcasing the passion of youth with wisdom beyond their years.

Honest, raw, dynamic, and inviting, Chance To Ignite is the first opportunity for a director out of Massive’s initiative The Directors Lab to take the lead. Scotty Cotter steps up to the helm for the new production as lead director for the very first time, bringing with him the experience gained as co-director from Massive’s 2016 show The Wholehearted, which was described as "relatable, humouristic and thought-provoking" by the NZ Herald. Assisting him is 2017 Directors Lab participant, Tuyet Nguyen, in her first stint in the director’s chair.

Known for their authentic style and genuine storytelling, Massive Company have been at the forefront of fostering young performers for over quarter of a century. Developed under the tutelage of Artistic Director, Sam Scott, the personal nature of their individual stories resonate strongly with audiences for each new show.
