A Peachy Keen Mother’s Day

A Peachy Keen Mother’s Day

Celebrate Mother’s Day the good old fashioned way at MOTAT! Let the Museum take you back in time to the post-war baby boom days of the 1950s when Elvis ruled the pop charts and Marilyn Monroe was the brightest star in show business.

It will be a Mother’s Day treat with a difference as guests are welcomed by roller skating waitresses and hula hooping girls reminiscent of yesteryear. Mum will surely feel like a movie star once she’s had her hair or make-up expertly done by The Beauty School Dropouts. The rest of the family can join in the fun by getting vintage style temporary “I love Mum” tattoos to commemorate the special day.

Think big hair and even bigger circle skirts with ballerina slippers as the mood is set around the Museum with car displays, photo booths, pop-up performances and more. Keep up to date with the latest in fifties fashion by attending the vintage themed fashion shows or take your time browsing for treasures at the market stalls.

Visitors are welcome to sit back and relax while being serenaded by live bands with tunes from the era which brought us doo-wop and the jitter bug or they can take to the floor and brush up on their dance moves!

Top this all off with a sumptuous Mother’s Day High Tea at the MOTAT café (additional charges apply and booking is essential) as the final cherry on the cake. Here guests can sip on fine French tea while savouring delicately made finger sandwiches, scones and mini sweet treats served traditionally on a tiered cake stand.
