New Zealand Comedy Trust & Flick Electric Co. present
Flick Electric Co. Comedy Gala
Hosted by Urzila Carlson
This is the second announcement to build hype for the Flick Electric Co. Comedy Gala in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Urzila Carlson hosts a line-up of extraordinary comedians including sketch sensations Aunty Donna (AUS), Melanie Bracewell (NZ), Tony Woods (US), The Fan Brigade (NZ), Zoe Lyons (UK), Rhys Nicholson (AUS) and more, will take to the stage in the super fresh fast-paced comedy spectacle.
With all the Brexit-ing and the impending Trumpocalypse, we don’t blame our northern comedians for escaping their motherland’s in favour of a few blissful weeks in New Zealand. One of the funniest smooth-talking headliners in the business Tony Woods is coming to the Festival for the very first time in 2017, bringing with him his laidback style, with bitingly sharp delivery and mischievous subject matter. Chortle Comic of the Year, Zoe Lyons finally returns to the Festival after a busy year that has seen her appear on Live at the Apollo, The John Bishop Show and Mock the Week.
Some of the best comics from across the ditch are also heading over, returning for another trip to the Comedy Fest. You’ll be in great hands with Aunty Donna (AUS) – with over 139K Subscribers, 19 million hits on YouTube and their own sketch series Trendy on US telly, rest assured they are just as funny IRL. 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Best Show nominee Rhys Nicholson has a wit as smart and sharp as his expensive suits, which are both packed and ready to go for the Comedy Gala tour.
The locals are also bringing it this year. Usually busy writing for The Project, producing a breakfast radio show, or blogging to her 200K+ followers, Melanie Bracewell is prepping herself for her first Gala. Last year’s Best Newcomer’s Fan Brigade are also kicking off with their first Gala outing. These impressive songstresses pack a whole lot of sass and sharp social commentary into their hilarious songs.
