Iwi provides a feast for the eyes

Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated is pleased to be hosting Te Matatini, the biggest Kapa Haka Competition in the world. A record 47 Kapa Haka teams have practiced extra hard over the past eight months in preparation for this national biennial event. The expectation is nothing less than perfection. Teams are traveling from as far as Melbourne Australia, to be here to uphold their cultural identity and compete at a high level. These teams have all won the right to come to this event by winning one of fourteen regional competitions. Only the best of the best will perform on stage during Te Matatini 2017.
Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated has been working with its horticultural, industrial and business partners to supply thousands of kilos of food and produce including Apples, Squash, Sweetcorn, Kumara, fish and meats, to assist marae and other venues to host the Kapa Haka teams. Partners include, Bostock NZ, Mr Apple, Yummy, Fresh Max, Port NZ, Pip Fruit NZ, Taratahi Training Institute, Fiordland Lobster, Paua Co, Tautane Farm, Mr Vegees, Hawke’s Bay Seafood’s, Miracle Water, Fonterra and Waikaremoana Trust.
