Jim Beam Homegrown 2017 – on Target to Sell Out
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jim Beam Homegrown is celebrating its 10th year in the capital and there will be no shortage of people coming to the party. Over 21,000 people are expected to enjoy the 6 stages set up along the Wellington waterfront on March 4th.
Its popularity is not surprising given the line-up includes Six60, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Shihad, Savage, Anika Moa, The Black Seeds and another 42 impressive Kiwi acts. This year’s ticket sales are well ahead of previous years and organisers are predicting that the “sell-out is on!”
“Sales have gone crazy in the past 10 days”, says organiser Rachel Turney.
Turney attributes the popularity to the complete line-up as opposed to any one band. “There are definitely die-hard, Shihad, Freddy’s and Six 60 fans, but it’s really having them all together in the same place on the same day; people love getting to see new artists like Kings, Like A Storm and nomad or their old favourites like Elemeno-P and The Feelers. Sometimes it’s the ones you’ve never heard that really stand out”.
The festival is unique in that once wrist-banded, attendees can come and go from each of the stages and even roam the city for a while. Having the public mingling with punters on the waterfront also adds to the occasion Turney explains, “It’s really cool having tourists and locals mixing with the festival, the vibe is very friendly, fun and welcoming. The market stalls, carnival rides and two free to the public stages also make it well worth wandering down to have a look”.
For those looking to get in on all of the action at every stage, there is a strong recommendation to get tickets sooner rather than later or risk missing out. For tickets and all information go to www.homegrown.net.nz
