WTF! Women's Theatre Festival at Circa Theatre

Circa Theatre is proud to curate and host WTF! Women’s Theatre Festival, celebrating women’s voices and following on from 2016’s hugely successful Women in Theatre Hui. A second conference will be hosted at Whitireia on 11 March 2017 (to coincide with International Women’s Day 8 March) – Women in Theatre Hui 2 – The Next Stage!

This month-long event will run from 25 Feb – 26 Mar and presents Conchus Summit - a special one-day collaborative event with Pacific theatre company, The Conch – on Saturday 25 February with Conchus Conversations at 1pm and then a 6.30pm Showcase with Pacific female artists along with the official WTF! launch celebration at 6pm with guest speaker, Luamanuvao Winnie Laban QSO.

Other highlights include “Top Girls’ High Tea – a celebration of Caryl Churchill” on Sunday 26 Feb; Award-winning Man Parts (3 & 4 March); Miss Jean Batten (7 - 11 March); The NZ premiere of Caryl Churchill’s Escaped Alone (11 March - 8 April) and Hens’ Teeth (14 - 25 March).

In addition, Circa will also present four play readings (4, 5, 18 and 25 March), four guest panels (28 Feb, 1, 2 & 4 March) and a writing workshop, Twelve Angry Women with playwright Sara Clifford (11 - 2pm on Sunday 26 March), that will celebrate the achievement of women and promote theatrical equality in Aotearoa.

BATS is also presenting Writes for Women – a short series of play readings from leading New Zealand women playwrights – Fix by Jess Sayer, Esther by Angie Farrow and Rēwena by Whiti Hereaka 14 - 16 March 6.30pm.
