MASAAKI SUZUKI & JUILLIARD 415
Acclaimed Bach musician Masaaki Juilliard leads Juilliard415 in these concerts focused on Bach and Handel - the giants of the Baroque era. J415 has established a reputation for combining youthful energy with poise, precision, and a luminous sound. Since The Juilliard School established its historical performance programme in 2009, it has demanded of its graduate students technical excellence and musical integrity, while giving them the chance to work with the most eminent musicians of the early music world. Masaaki Suzuki is undoubtedly one of these, hugely esteemed for his performances and recordings of Bach.
"Musicianship is, to be sure, Mr. Suzuki's greatest strength...a subtle ear for colour, a keen sense of harmonic direction, and an ability to make phrases breathe and rhythms live." - The New York Times
The tour also includes a weekend workshop in Nelson for singers and Baroque instrumentalists to explose the performance of Bach and his sacred cantatas. Working with Masaaki Suzuki, alongside the musicians of J415, the programme includes rehearsals, masterclasses, coaching sessions and talks and seminars open to observers.
