There are only five days to go until we’re all at Albert Park precinct enjoying the grass, shade, gourmet food trucks and a music line-up featuring some of the most exciting bands on the planet right now. If you’re not already coming, time is running short to book your ticket.
The Laneway Festival tour has already started, with the first date in Singapore over the weekend. The crowds and reviewers were loving it.
"…There was no
lack of enthusiasm from the 10,000-strong crowd that danced
and sang its heart out..”
- The Straits
Times
“Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard were the standout act for many in the crowd. The seven-piece band from Melbourne – including two drummers and three guitarists – powered through a hard-hitting set of their signature psychedelic take on classic Australian pub rock.”
- South China Morning Post
"2017 allowed Singaporeans to experience conscious hip-hop from the south side of Chicago (Mick Jenkins)... not to mention, super-sized showcases by top-tier indie acts like Tycho, Glass Animals and Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker)."
- Bandwagon Asia
"Aside from her mesmerizing stage presence and undoubtedly alluring vocals that could just transport you to places, the 20-year-old musical wonder is beyond her age when it comes to communicating with fans."
- Spin or Bin on AURORA
“What seemed to be the highlight of the festival was Glass Animals’ infectious zest that radiated throughout the crowd..."
- Spin or Bin
"Even if
you’re absolutely unfamiliar with such new throngs of
talent (or old ones you’ve lost touch with), the
festival’s done its job if it’s made you curious to
discover more. Whether it brings down next an ensemble of
Glastonbury-worthy headliners, or a burgeoning batch of
industry unknowns, I’m sure that the masses will continue
flocking to Laneway, as they have for the last seven
years.”
- Kevin Ho, The
Honeycombers
REFUSED AUSTRALIAN
TOUR
Meanwhile in Australia, Pitchfork darlings Refused are in the middle of a five city tour before heading to Auckland for their first ever New Zealand show at Laneway.
"Refused are here to play to their strengths, and to remind us that punk can still be dangerous and exciting."
- Rolling Stone Australia
"The
group's surprising and contrasting arrangements provide an
intense feeling of empowerment and confusion that somehow
magically turns to euphoria in the performance space.
Refused are a band of seasoned veterans whose overwhelming
live performance should be experienced by all."
- The
Music
"With new album Freedom, an altered lineup and self-proclaimed attitude adjustment, Refused were newly polished, but still classically raw."
