Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert rocks to sell out

Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert rocks to sell out crowd

The South Island came alive today, when the annual nationwide Summer Concert Tour kicked off in Queenstown with international music artists ICEHOUSE, Alan Parsons Live Project & Bonnie Tyler performing to a 16,000 strong sell-out crowd at the Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert.

This year’s line-up has proved to be hugely popular with both the Queenstown and Taupo Summer Concerts selling out in September last year.

Setting the scene for the Queenstown crowd in great concert weather, (cloudy and not too hot), local artists J-Chill from Roxburgh and Flaming Moes took to the stage late morning delivering what would be a total of five incredible acts over the course of the afternoon with a chilled out atmosphere of picnic rugs and hampers, along with the incredible background of the Crown Range beyond.

Bonnie Tyler was the first of the international acts to take to the stage at 1pm and wowed concert goers with her unmistakable voice, entertaining them with her host of hit songs including “Total Eclipse Of The Heart, It’s A Heartache and Holding Out For A Hero”.

Next up were Alan Parsons Live Project. Performing for the first time in New Zealand, eleven-time Grammy Award nominee, - Alan Parsons – has promised to capture the audience with all their well known songs like “Eye In The Sky, Games People Play, Damned If I Do, Don’t Answer Me, I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You and Sirius”.

At the time of this release, legendary Aussie rockers, ICEHOUSE, headed by Iva Davies, were also gearing up to perform their first headlining New Zealand show in over 20 years, and with iconic songs in their repertoire such as “Can’t Help Myself, We Can Get Together, Hey Little Girl, Electric Blue, & Great Southern Land”, it promised to be an amazing end to the day.

Amanda Calvert, CEO of Greenstone Entertainment comments, “The Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert has been another great success! Every year, it gives us great pleasure to bring the concert tour to Queenstown and have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful country and people to our international guests. We now look forward to taking the tour to the North Island next weekend for what will be two more fantastic shows in the idyllic locations of Taupo and Whitianga.

Next Saturday’s Taupo Summer Concert is sold out and organisers are expecting a sell-out of the Whitianga Summer Concert also, so best be in quick to secure your tickets for the Whitianga show on Sunday 29 January, only $99 plus booking fee through www.ticketek.co.nz (0800TICKETEK)
