Legendary Irish Singer Songwriter Mundy Tours NZ

Legendary Irish Singer Songwriter Mundy will be doing a limited tour of New Zealand in 2017. Joined by one of the finest Traditional Irish musicians, Séamus Begley and his trio, they will be performing an unforgettable double bill show at The Tuning Fork in Auckland on 24th February, before Mundy continues down the country with the energetic sounds of world music outfit ALDOC.

Mundy comes from a long line of great Irish performers. A multi-platinum selling artist who has released six studio albums over 20 years, he’s performed for Barack Obama twice, both in Ireland and at the White House. While busking in Dublin during the 90s, he achieved international fame when his song ‘To You I Bestow’ featured in the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet movie. Mundy has worked with talent including Pink Floyd, The Verve and even Paul McCartney. He made Steve Earle’s song ‘Galway Girl’ into an international hit and can stir a crowd into a hearty song along.

Séamus Begley is the quintessential Irish musician - an eager storyteller known for his sharp wit and famous for pumping out tunes. He is joined on this tour by one of the world’s finest Irish fiddlers Dezi Donnelly and dynamic guitarist Matt Griffin.

These performers bring passion and intensity to the stage combined with an intimacy and warmth that will make you feel part of the performance. This is a celebration of Traditional Irish music, providing stunning arrangements of traditional Irish masterpieces.

ALDOC bring urban sounds & musical soundscapes, led by charmed melodies on the flute, lit up with jazz-tinged arrangements, heavy grooves, spooky brass solos, tremolo affected electric guitars, lonely banjo lines and dramatic breakdowns.

ALDOC have headlined the Goa Jazz Festival and deliver an “unforgettable show”.

A chance to experience some of Ireland’s finest musical exports, Mundy is a night out not to be missed!

“Soaring melodies… vivid lyrics… dreamlike… stunning imagery and amazing gigs that has us eatin’ the songs straight from his palm” – Damien Dempsey of Mundy _______________________________________
