Flight Centre NZ Staff Give Back

Flight Centre NZ Staff Give Back

Today is International Volunteer Day and the theme is ‘Together we can’, something Flight Centre NZ embodied on the weekend when more than 800 staff volunteered at projects around Auckland as part of their ‘Giving Back’ staff conference.

Recognising the power that working together has, ‘Flighties’ together donated more than 2,200 hours worth of volunteer time on the day. Helping with everything from working bees at schools, to stream clean ups, delivering flyers, sorting clothes and goods, working with animals and helping the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation assess public spaces.

David Coombes, Flight Centre NZ managing director says, “It was a huge undertaking to organise this day but so humbling to see our people getting stuck in and working together to make a difference. I feel so proud that as a company we are able to offer this kind of support to the communities in which we work.”

The Flight Centre Foundation is at the heart of Flight Centre Travel Groups corporate and social responsibility efforts. It provides company employees with a means to support nominated charities through workplace giving and fundraising initiatives. All staff donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, which also offers a paid program for employees who want to volunteer their time to community charities.

The Foundation works closely with a select group of charity partners on an ongoing basis, supporting key programs and projects to maximise their impact. In times of natural disaster and emergency, they help where they can with one-off appeals. The company are currently running a fundraising initiative with their staff to help communities impacted by Novembers earthquakes.
