Team Clarkson finds its #ThirdWheel
Auckland father of two, Tony (Anthony) Woodcock has been confirmed as the #ThirdWheel to join Jenny-May Clarkson and husband Dean on the start line at World Masters Games 2017 (WMG2017).
WMG2017 Ambassador Jenny-May Clarkson launched an online competition last month in search of a runner to complete Team Clarkson’s Triathlon entry, and run the 5k run leg in the relay-style event.
Woodcock was one of several entries short-listed in the month long search, and according to Jenny-May it was the dad jokes that sealed the deal.
“We’ve been delighted with the response to our search, and want to thank everyone who put their name forward.
“Tony will be a welcome addition to the team, and will bring plenty of laughs to the recovery sessions at the pub, one of the key pre-requisites for us.
“With only four months to Games time, one way or another, we’ll be ready,” Jenny-May says.
Jenny-May and husband Dean have entered the Triathlon Sprint Team event which takes place on Auckland’s waterfront. Jenny-May will take on the 750 metre ocean swim and Dean will tackle the 20km bike ride.
The search for the third member of Team Clarkson was open to anybody aged 30 or over- the entry age for the triathlon event - who was up for a 5km run at next year’s Games.
As well as joining Team Clarkson, Tony Woodcock will receive $500 to assist with his Games registration, and a Team Clarkson shirt from Project Clothing.
