8th November 2016
Netball Mainland has appointed Marianne Delaney-Hoshek as head coach for next year’s Mainland Beko Netball League team in a move to give continuity within their elite programme.
Delaney-Hoshek will take on a dual coaching role within the Zone as she continues to also work as assistant coach with the Mainland Tactix in the new elite domestic competition, the ANZ Premiership.
The former New Zealand Secondary Schools and NZA head coach is a product of the high performance coach development system in New Zealand. She has had international coaching experience at secondary schools level and more recently had five years as assistant coach with the Tactix (2015-2016) and Central Pulse (2012-2014) in the former trans-Tasman Netball League.
Delaney-Hoshek said she was looking forward to the year ahead with both the Tactix and her new role with the Beko Netball League team.
“I am excited to be involved with ensuring we develop the best athletes we can in Netball Mainland,” she said.
Netball Mainland will use a number of assistant coaches to work alongside Delaney-Hoshek throughout the Beko programme.
Performance manager Jen Hooper said it was an exciting time for Netball Mainland which wanted to lead an extensive “One Team” campaign through the Beko competition, allowing continuity across both the ANZ Premiership and Beko programmes.
“I am excited for the ANZ Premiership in 2017 for us to be implementing a fresh approach to increase the capabilities of both our players and coaches,” she said.
The Beko Netball League made its successful debut on the domestic scene this year as an amateur development league that underpins the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand. It will run from early April until the end of June next year.
Trials for Netball Mainland’s Beko Netball League team will be at the Apollo Projects in Christchurch on November 19-20.
Meanwhile, experienced manager Mandy Anderson will continue in the role as Mainland’s team manager for the 2017 Beko Netball League. Anderson has been involved in sports administration and management for more than 20 years and works as the Assistant Director of Sport at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in Christchurch.
