The Land Rover NZ polo open set to showcase world class polo event
It’s that time of year again for the Clevedon based Auckland Polo Club, the polo players have their horses in from
winter grazing, the grooms are returning from their season in the northern hemisphere and Hannah Marshall, Executive
Director for the Land Rover NZ Polo Open 2017, is busy preparing for the premium event on New Zealand’s polo calendar.
Hannah, originally from England has been involved with polo for over half her life, having travelled the world working
in Polo before settling in Clevedon to take over the reins as the Auckland Polo Club Manager and the Executive Director
for the illustrious New Zealand polo open. It is Hannah’s ninth year at the helm of New Zealand’s busiest Polo Club, she
is renowned for being formidable on organisation and multi-tasking in a male dominated environment, running everything
from chukkas to games, to the bar, the grounds, and sponsorship, a woman at the top of her game.
“I love being part of polo,” says Marshall. “The Land Rover NZ Polo Open is a great event with a fantastic atmosphere.
It showcases the best polo players from around the world, playing on world class horses, on a world class field with the
crowd having an amazing experience.”
The Land Rover NZ Polo Open is New Zealand’s most prestigious polo championship with players from New Zealand, South
Africa, Australia, England and Argentina competing throughout the week, with the masterpiece, the final game to be held
on Sunday 19th February 2017, that will attract not only the best in polo but a crowd from all over the world from
luxury brands to New Zealand companies at the forefront of their field, sport stars and people with their finger on the
global trends and fashion pulse.
“We have some great sponsors, and we are very excited about showcasing our best polo event yet,” says Marshall.
Polo has been transcending style since its inception hundreds of years ago and whilst it attracts a discerning
association, what makes it an exciting spectator sport is the combination of a team of four highly skilled passionate
and determined polo players together with the stamina and temperance of their horses moving and turning at speed on a
magnificently manicured polo field.
One thing is for sure, the Land Rover NZ Polo Open 2017 will be a very classy affair.
