Sign your family up to Bike’vember

Stop nagging your kids to ride to school – sign your family up to Bike’vember, you’ll thank us for it.
Sound familiar? Mum-Dad can you pick me up from school - pleeeease? Now you can say – “oh sorry honey, I don’t want to get in the way of your goals. You pledged to ride for 30 days in November”. Wonderful – think of that extra time you’ll have for you!
As testament to our active community Bike’vember launched its website and within only a few days we already have 100 pledgers signed up for 30 days of people powered travel over November. We expect at least 1,000 of our wild people of Wanaka to get on board. When you register – sign up your whole tribe. You’ll thank us for it!
Anyone can pledge to kick the car habit at www.bikevember.nz or you can come talk to us at the Bike’vember Bicycles n’ Breakfast BBQ from 7.00am - 9.30am on 1st November, at Wanaka’s Dinosaur Playground.
Bike’vember is a month-long celebration of people-powered travel around the Upper Clutha communities this November, encouraging locals and visitors alike to ditch the car and walk or bike instead. And just maybe riding might become part of our everyday lives.
If your work requires you to drive daily with tools, passengers or equipment, consider where else you normally drive and how you could break the habit. Bike to the pub, the shop, to visit friends. Or if that still seems too much, how about sponsoring someone who is taking on the challenge to show your support.
We’ve a calendar of amazing events including a dress-up biking finale, family fun day, skills clinics by Mission WOW and Be-SpokedNZ, bike-in movie, and bike maintenance clinics. http://bikevember.nz/calendar/
Anyone can create their own Bike’vember event or outing, such as a ride, a walk or any event supporting cyclists and walkers; all you need to do it is add it to our calendar and it’s free. http://bikevember.nz/calendar/community/add
This inaugural Bike’vember is a community campaign supported by the Queenstown Lakes District Council, Department of Conservation, Upper Clutha Tracks Trust, Lake Wanaka Tourism, Bike Wanaka, Good Rotations and Mission WOW.
Our business partners so far include Mons Royale, Outside Sports, Good Rotations, Rafe Maclean Architects, Sweet Cheeks and Snow Sports.
If you’re interested in taking part, please refer to www.bikevember.nz
