Hear that noise? It’s the sound of the 2016 Big Boys Toys, lineup of great and crazy cars, warming up for next weekend’s
event; ASB Showgrounds, October 28-30th.
Whether it’s super power you’re seeking or something completely different this show has it all!
First off the starting grid, The Swin Car, an incredible French made off-roader, will be making its New Zealand debut at
Big Boys Toys next weekend. What makes this vehicle so special? Each wheel has its own electric hub motor and combined
with a spider-like suspension system, its rough terrain capabilities are simply unbelievable!
The Swin all-terrain vehicle has been eight years in the making. King Country farmer Cliff Tombleson is responsible for
bringing the car into New Zealand, and describes the car as a “mechanical spider on steroids. The Swin Car takes the off
road concept to a whole new planet”. Watch as we take it through its paces at the show!
At the other extreme end of the scale, leader in luxury cars, Aston Martin will not disappoint at Big Boys Toys, with
the 2017 Aston Martin DB11 on show to the New Zealand public for the first time. This supercar features an updated
clamshell bonnet, new grill, and a new aero blade which controls air-flow over the DB11’s impressive new bodywork. You
might need some air yourself after marvelling at its striking new features.
Not just a stylistic supercar, the new model has a twin turbocharge of 5.2 litres, a V12 engine, and is the most
powerful DB model in the entire history of Aston Martin.
Even more powerful in the Driven Hall this year, Big Boys Toys is proud to be unveiling the Ferrari F12 TDF, a 12
cylinder monster that charges from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.9 seconds.
Described by Top Gear as “serving up the most extraordinary surge of savage, linear acceleration, and the relentless
thrust of a jet fighter on take-off”, the Italian supercar is designed to turn heads.
For those who seek a unique vehicle of their own design, the Kiwi made Brodster is a must see. Built by a passionate
Kiwi team, the car is a mixture of both traditional hot rod elements and late model BMW parts custom built car for All
Black superstar Brodie Retallick.
Retallick isn’t a small man, so the car is built for comfort, even if you’re not 2m tall like he is. With unique
features and more than a few surprises, the car has been enthusiastically endorsed by Hot Rod magazine, and is sure to
please visitors to Big Boys Toys next weekend.
Or if your desire is less road and more mountain, the Land-Rover Terra Pod Experience is an artificial off-road course
which allows Land Rover Discovery passengers to experience the full range of the vehicle’s abilities, rising 8m in the
air.
Classic and crazy cars are not the only vehicles on show at Big Boys Toys, with stunning examples from Ford, Jaguar,
Land Rover and Yamaha that you can dream to own or take home.
And from four wheels to two, check out legendary FMX and BMX drivers Levi Sherwood, Kurtis Downs and Jed Mildon showing
off their tricks to the delight of a hyped up crowd all weekend.
